Students that depend on in-person interactions to find the motivation to complete assignments, research, or papers may not be the right fit for an online graduate degree.
On the other hand, students that are good at setting goals and consistently progressing toward them will excel in online programs. These students tend to be energized by their achievements, using that energy to set and accomplish further tasks.
Organization
In a classroom setting, sometimes professors go to great lengths to make sure that each student is steadily progressing with his or her work over the course of the term. This may be especially helpful when the course includes large research-based projects, as graduate courses often do.

A functioning computer is an indispensible tool for any online graduate student, and without it, he or she will not be able to participate in an online education.
Similarly, online graduate students are expected to be computer literate, comfortable with numerous popular online applications like email, Web conferencing, social networks, blogs, and general internet research. Individuals who are not comfortable using or learning new computer applications should look into taking a computer literacy course in their communities before enrolling in an online graduate program.
